The Sculptures Hooded Sweatshirt takes cues from futuristic spacecraft concept designs where each shard represents components of an everyday craft designed for intergalactic travel when the future of this world no longer holds promise.

Alcubierre Drive and Nuclear Pulse Propulsion
The design was initially inspired by concept of the Alcubierre Warp Drive which hypothetically stands as a plausible method for travelling faster than the speed of light by compressing space in front of a craft and expanding the space behind it. Though this method is congruent with Einstein's field equations, it requires negative mass which is still undiscovered.

Ever since the dawn of space travel, humans have been finding methods to travel faster. Apart from the Alcubierre Drive, a previously proposed method was the Nuclear Pulse Propulsion which is a hypothetical method of spacecraft propulsion using nuclear explosions as thrust. But this meant that the spacecraft had to be built to withstand large impacts.

With these 2 concepts in mind, many engineers and architects have been working their way around designing crafts to suit these types of frequent travel. Several concept designs involved complexed arc-like body structures to provide aerodynamism for maximum propulsion.
